" As Muslim Arsenal fans we should not be afraid in displaying our faith, sadly when attending football games there could be a chance anyone one of us could be subject to racist or Islamophobic abuse. Although policing on this issue has improved, there is still a long way to go to eliminate any form of discrimination for that matter from the beautiful game. "
(Faris & Aaliyah)

To any brother or sister that has unfortunately been a victim of Islamophobia at a match here is guidance on how to approach the situation:

  1. Remain Calm
As distressing as the situation may be try your best to swallow your anger and prevent yourself adding fuel to the fire in retaliation but instead keep to our Islamic principles. Stand your ground where necessary but remember as Muslims we should hold our tongues and be better so do not act in such a way that could put you in further trouble. Who spend [in the cause of Allah] during ease and hardship and who restrain anger and who pardon the people - and Allah loves the doers of good; (Quran 3:134)

  2. Report the Incident
The first thing you should do is reach out the nearest steward and relay an account of the incident. You can also use Arsenal’s ‘See Something, Say Something’ service by texting “Foul” to 67777 together with a description of what happened alongside your seat, row and block numbers. Alternatively you can report it to Kick It Out

  3. Contact Specialist Service
If you’d much rather turn to a service that deals only in Islamophobia you can report your experience to: Muslim Safety Net Call them on 0303 330 0288 / 07311 876 378 (SMS / WhatsApp) or email (contact@muslimsafetynet.org.uk).

  4. Inform Us
If you are a victim of Islamophobia at an Arsenal game, whether or not you decide to report it you make us aware of the situation by reaching out to us at contact@arsenalmuslims.com

Above all remember football is a space that brings people from all backgrounds and walks of life together especially in this case through the shared love of Arsenal. Hence your presence matters—you belong in those stands as much as anyone else. Most importantly, don’t let negativity dim your passion for the game or your pride in your identity. Your resilience and courage inspire others, and together, we can continue to foster inclusivity and unity in football.
